Dear Visitors!

By entering the Róth Miksa Memorial House and Collection every visitor accepts the rules and regulations presented in this document, and agrees to comply with instructions, warnings or possible restrictions given by employees throughout his or her stay in the institution.

Visitors view the exhibitions or take part in museum events at their own responsibility.

Please understand that the building of the Róth Miksa Memorial House and Collection is not made accessible for wheelchair users as it is a heritage building.

1. ENTRY AND TICKETS

The museum can be visited with either a regular entry ticket or with an event ticket. Regular entry tickets can be bought in person only, at the museum’s ticket office; we accept payment by cash in Hungarian Forints or by bankcard. For our special events like guided tours or workshops, you can purchase tickets online, through the museum’s official platform, or in person while stocks last.

1.1. ENTRY TICKET

We offer certain discounts for entry tickets; discounts can be claimed by showing the relevant official document or proof of eligibility to the cashier.

A person in possession of and entry ticket is entitled to view the museum’s exhibitions, but cannot take part in events. The only exception to this rule occurs if the museum states otherwise on certain occasions, or a group of visitors booked a guided tour, house tour or museum pedagogical class.

1.2. EVENT TICKET

The above-mentioned discounts are not applicable to events – guided tours, walking tours, workshops, thematic events, art therapy sessions, etc. – organized by the museum, as tickets for these are offered at a flat rate.

Purchasing an event ticket gives you free admission to the museum’s exhibitions on the given day, however on certain occasions other rules may apply, which the institution will always state in the event description. If the event is free and requires registration in advance we provide the specific regulations in the event description. Registering for a free event does not automatically entitle you to see the exhibitions free of charge.

Ticket cancellation and refund is only available in case the said event is cancelled by the museum. If an event is cancelled, the tickets purchased online are refunded automatically to the buyer. As for tickets bought in person, please contact us via email at rothmuzeum@kult7.hu

By purchasing an event ticket visitors accept that their ticket is valid only for the given event, it cannot be used on a different date or different event.

2. CODE OF CONDUCT

The museum cannot be visited by persons under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicating substances, nor by those in unkempt, scanty, or inappropriate attire (e.g., barefoot, shirtless, or in swimwear).

If a visitor disturbs other visitors with their behaviour or appearance, employees may order him or her to leave the premises.

During your visit it is prohibited to behave in any way that endangers the safety of other visitors or the property of the museum, or to behave in a manner that violates public order and public morals.

The Róth Miksa Memorial House and Collection cannot be visited by persons showing signs of a contagious disease.

Please refrain from loud speaking on the phone or to your companions, to avoid disturbing other visitors both inside the museum building and in the yard. We ask you to put your phone on silent mode and take calls after your visit.

2.1. REGULATIONS CONCERNING CERTAIN OBJECTS, ANIMALS, FOOD & BEVERAGES

It is prohibited to bring into the museum building any type of vehicle (bicycle, scooter, etc.), living animals – with the exception of assistance dogs bearing a distinctive marking –, stabbing or cutting instruments, and any kind of other object endangering the safety and condition of the museum’s collection, museum visitors or employees.

Suitcases and bigger-sized bags or backpacks must be left in the cloakroom; smaller-sized bags may be carried in hand or on your chest. Inside the exhibition rooms coats can be worn exclusively if they are dry, but they cannot be carried in hand. It is not allowed to take umbrellas into the exhibition rooms. No garment may be brought in draped over the shoulder.

It is prohibited to bring in food or beverages into exhibition rooms, or any kind of object endangering the safety and condition of the museum’s collection. Beverages can be consumed only in the ticket office or in the yard.

2.2. SMOKING AND ALCOHOLIC DRINKS

The consumption of alcoholic drinks is strictly prohibited on the premises; violating this rule results in immediate expulsion. The museum cannot be visited by persons under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicating substances.

Employees may call for police assistance against visitors who endanger or violate the safety of other visitors or museum employees, or behave in a disparaging or threatening manner.

Smoking is forbidden on the premises – including e-cigarettes – in the building, in the yard and on the terrace as well. Smoking is allowed on the street at a 5 m distance from the gate.

2.3. TOILETS

Toilets in the Róth Miksa Memorial House and Collection can be used exclusively after purchasing an entry ticket or event ticket.

3. ART CONSERVATION AND EXHIBITION SPACES

It is prohibited to damage exhibits, to step on installation structures, to sit down on the stairs or window sills, or to use the stairs for purposes other than their intended use. Visitors are liable for any damage they cause.

Some pieces in our collection are very sensitive and could be damaged by a single touch. We ask you to keep a 20 cm distance from exhibits, – including furniture or decorative objects which also comprise part of the collection – do not touch or take any of them into your hand!

You are obliged to use premises of the Róth Miksa Memorial House and Collection for their intended purpose, keep it clean, handle and protect the equipment and facilities and the building itself according to regulations.

We ask adults accompanying underaged children to pay special attention to keeping in with this rule.

4. CAPACITY AND GROUP SIZE

In order to comply with current fire safety regulations and ensuring the protection of artworks the capacity of exhibition rooms is limited. If the number of visitors reaches the upper limit of the room’s capacity, no further visitors may enter the area.

As for booked group visits, the group leader is responsible for ensuring that the group does not exceed the maximum number of participants permitted under current regulations – specifically, a total of 25 people, including organizers.  Should the group arrive with a larger number of people, staff may deny entry to those exceeding the limit.

4.1. LIABILITY AND CONDUCT RULES FOR GROUP AND FAMILY VISITS

In case of group and family visits the group leader, group teacher or parents are liable for making sure that each member of the party complies with rules and regulations detailed in this document.

Visitors must comply with all instructions given by museum staff in accordance with these visitor rules.

5. PHOTO, VIDEO AND VOICE RECORDING

Visitors with a valid entry ticket or event ticket may take photographs of the artworks exhibited in the museum without the use of flash, camera stand or selfie-stick. Photos taken can be used exclusively for personal use, they may not be distributed commercially. If you wish to publish photographs about our artworks in a commercial publication, flyer, or other publication, a contract needs to be signed first. In this case the museum provides its own official photographs at a cost of 6000 HUF/ image. For such enquires contact rothmuzeum@kult7.hu

On the premises of the Róth Miksa Memorial House and Collection no video or voice recording may be made, neither with a mobile phone, nor with any other video or voice recording device. On guided tours and events, visitors can take photos of their own, but it is not allowed to make any kind of video or voice recording.

Visitors are allowed to take photos if they do not break any of these regulations and do not disturb other visitors.

6. DATA PROTECTION AND CCTV POLICY

A video surveillance and image recording system operates throughout the entire premises of the Róth Miksa Memorial House and Collection. By entering the museum, visitors consent and accept that the video surveillance system makes a recording of them for security purposes, and the museum handles their personal information (image) in compliance with data protection regulations for a limited time.

7. CLOAK ROOM AND LOST OBJECTS

Using the cloak room is mandatory and free of charge. The museum assumes no responsibility for valuables left in the cloakroom.

8. OPENING HOURS, GUIDED TOURS AND GROUP VISITS

The museum’s opening hours can be viewed on our official website at: https://www.rothmuzeum.hu/english/opening-hours/   

Guided tours, house tours and museum pedagogy classes can be requested only during opening hours. You need to register 3 weeks in advance via email for any of the above-mentioned group visits; visits cannot be booked on the phone, but only in email.

Guided tours are held by trained employees of the museum; unaffiliated tour guides are not allowed to host such events.

If you plan to arrive with a group exceeding 10 people you need to notify the museum about it in advance in email, even if you do not request a guided tour.

You can last purchase an entry ticket on any given day 30 minutes before closing time, if you are unable to secure your ticket by this time you cannot see the exhibitions. The museum gift shop normally closes 10 minutes before the museum building closes. The museum building closes 30 minutes before the official closing time if there is no visitor left in the building half an hour before closing.

9. CHILDREN IN THE MUSEUM

We are happy to welcome children visiting the Róth Miksa Memorial House and Collection! Following the rules listed below is in our mutual interest – for the children, the parents, and the museum alike. We ask adults accompanying children to keep in mind and follow these regulations!

Children below 14 years can only visit the museum if an adult is accompanying them. The adult has to provide constant supervision of the child, especially as regards the protection of museum equipment, artworks and collection pieces.

Children below 2 years must be held in arms or lead by hand by the parent when entering the exhibition rooms, or carried in a baby carrier secured to the parent's body at the front. Prams are not allowed in the exhibition rooms. Families arriving with a pram may leave the pram in the cloakroom or ticket office, however the museum assumes no responsibility for valuables left behind.

For general safety and artwork protection reasons, carrying a child of any age around the neck or on the back is not permitted.

10. EMERGENCY PROTOCOL

In case of an emergency, for example a fire alarm, the building must be evacuated according to the escape routes posted on each floor. If there is an emergency, inform the museum personnel and follow instructions given by them.
